"Passion has no limits. We know reality and the human being through fiction"
"Citizen film, made by citizens"
“To keep the viewer with a dose of interest and intrigue for me is fundamental"
"Wait and see…"
Every story is valid, at the movies, as long as you make the method works for your emotions.
“Shorts or death”
"No matter what story you want to tell, have fun and enjoy, it's just a short"
"The freedom offered by the short film is priceless"
"Cinema is not everything in life, nor theater nor art in general, that's a truth that we should discover before it’s too late"
"For me, the camera is a compass of the inner world.”
"Films -whether long or short- can only be made with genuine love, it is too complicated to be driven you by other reasons, and if it’s inside you, you cannot avoid it”
Creating movies is beating you in a duel with your dreams, wishing that they win.
“Big stories in small times”
It’s in the artistic and humanitarian value beyond each frame that the modern day dreamer finds a space for him or herself, to which little few things can compare in beauty and harmony nowadays.
I shoot, therefore I am.
“Una máxima a tener en cuenta siempre: el arte debe servir para perturbar a los acomodados y acomodar a los perturbados.”
Cinema is for romantic people. Only the unconscious can pretend to make a movie and make it through the movie theaters, at least in Spain. With your feet on the ground, no one would ever try, if it was only a rational decision. It´s necessary to jump in the deep without even knowing if there is water.
"Don’t just think it... Imagine it. Don’t just imagine it... Feel it!"
Michael Caine en una entrevista durante el Festival de San Sebastián me dijo que el cine debía ser el espejo en el que el público se reflejase. Yo me lo tomé al pie de la letra.
"Being a filmmaker rather than a vocation, is a way of existing and being in the world"
"Short films are film schools, They are the perfect opportunity to tell stories and make mistakes. As many as you want"
“The characteristics of one filmmaker cannot be compared to others. It’s a bit like colors: we cannot say that one color is better than others, rather each one has its own value in its ability to express a given emotion. Their intrinsic nature mean they cannot compete. In this way the filmmaker doesn’t have competitors, he competes with himself. He only needs to look inside and improve the purity of his own color every day, and find the essence of his true character”
The film makes us dream
Making a movie es showing something that was present but invisible
"If cronyism is left to one side good movies can be made"
“Cuida a tu equipo y tu proyecto saldrá adelante”
"The short film is something vocational, a passion, a vehicle for storytelling, to create unforgettable and beautiful images, it’s something that I need, something that both gives me life and takes it from me"
"Every film that has felt short to you (regardless of duration shon on the technical sheet) is a short film"
"The path is what´s important. Onwards, onwards, onwards!"
"For me recording is a permanent negotiation between reality and my imagination”
The cinema is what we see and feel, later we can´t get in front of the viewer to explain something that hasn´t been understood, the excuses aren´t recorded
"Cinema is my religion. And Luis Garcia Berlanga, Manuel Summers and Javier Aguirre, my Holy Trinity"
"The shortfilm market is exploding in Spain. It would be great if they had their own identity and visibility or if most of their talent flowed to the feature film"
Ama cada fotograma de tu película y haz caso a Mick Jagger: No vas a conseguir lo que quieres pero igual consigues lo que necesitas (si te esfuerzas a tope).
"The early bird gets God´s better light, but only for a little while"
"Alone you can’t, with friends you can"
I am a storyteller about people that affect me, in several formats, from the novel, the documentary or the cinema.
"The shortfilm is a great window to this exciting world of cinema, to this factory of dreams and illusions, it’s not just practice for feature films. I hope one day it gets the credit it deserves. Short Films in theaters before feature films Now!"
"Writing stories is not compatible with emotional and psychological balance if you get completely into your characters when you write. And that means living and breathing them, it´s not enough to just observe them"
The shortfilm is not the future of spanish cinema, but the present.
"I am spellbound by the waters"
“Many of the great moments of our lives are cinema”
"Cinema is the greatest passion never told"
"The short film is a more elaborate way of telling a story"
"Cinema is life"
"I see the film as the art of arts, ART with capital letters, the art that offers to any creative person a space to play, write, direct, show their sculptures, photographs, paintings, decorations, costume design... they can present songs or music that they have composed"
"Cinema is something very alive. For me a film has to change with each day as I'm discovering it or as I’m confronting its problems"
"Producers, through our work, we have a big social responsibility"
"Cinema is the ideal place to show the thoughts of its creators, the format doesn’t matter short or long It’s something wonderful. LONG LIVE CINEMA!"
Cinema as life is a succession of fragmented memories that fade to black.
"As it is very difficult for me to write a book, film with new advanced technologies and the peculiarities of my 'World', the Deaf community... its language... is the perfect excuse to express myself... making movies"
“I write because I need to, I produce because I have to, and I direct out of passion”
"I used to devour films at Sunday double sessions at my hometown’s cinema, I started in the world of the short film when I discovered that one short at the annual film festival had been made by one of my neighbors, the baker. So movies weren’t just to look at they could also be made. Celebrate it, filming!"
For me, cinema is to observe closely the present, discover the past, dream the future and translate it into stories. To do it in a short; is also an art.
"With all respect for an art where I consider myself an innocent and an apprentice"
