Born in Barcelona in 1970, he holds a Degree in Business Administration from ESADE. The decisive impetus to train in film came with a grant in 1996 to study at the prestigious International School of Film and Television of San Antonio de los Baños (EICTV), in the Havana and then at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in Sydney. With his production company, Films Fresdeval, since 2000 he has directed all of the company’s projects. His films speak of the inability to communicate, the complexity of the family universe and the unexpected outbreak of violence in everyday life. A tireless explorer of the potential of audiovisual media, Jaime Rosales’ films reflect the great interest of the director in finding new forms of expression away from the usual conventions of film language. He has taught courses and given talks and lectures at a number of universities, film schools and art centers. He has collaborated with, among others, the following: Museo del Prado, Caixa Forum, Picasso Foundation in Malaga, Reina Sofia Museum, Centre Georges Pompidou, Museum Artium Vitoria, CCCB Barcelona, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III, University of Barcelona, University Pompeu Fabra, ECAM, EICTV, ESADE, New York University, University of Lyon, IBAFF. In March 2014 the Centre Georges Pompidou held a retrospective of his work.
