He gained most of his professional experience working in short film first as an actor and scriptwriter and eventually in production and directing together with Álvaro Pastor.
As a director he received a Goya nomination for his short film “Uno más, uno menos” (2002) and third SGAE Versión Española prize.
He was the scriptwriter, producer and actor for the short film “Invulnerable” (2005) directed by Álvaro Pastor, which won the second prize at the SGAE Versión Española competition, the Audience award at film festivals in Toronto and Cracow and the Biznaga de Plata for the Best Short Film at the Malaga film festival Málaga 2005. A. Naharro won seven acting awards for this film in Brest (France), Brussels and Alcalá de Henares.
With his feature film “YO TAMBIÉN” (2009) he was nominated for Best New Director at the Goya Awards. Produced by Julio Medem, “Yo también” won two Conchas de Plata at the San Sebastian Film festival in 2009 – one for Best Actress (Lola Dueñas) and one for Best Actor (Pablo Pineda), It won the audience prize at the Rotterdam International Festival, four Goya nominations – winning in two categories – Best Actress and Best Original Song. And it was included in the Official Selection for the Sundance International Festival for Independent Cinema. The film has been shown in more than 40 countries.
“AMÉN” (2016) was his second short film as a director and was awarded First Prize by “Telemadrid/La Otra”, in the 18th edition of the Comunidad de Madrid Short Film Week. It won the audience prize at the Festival de Cine de Albacete, Abycine, and the Prize for Best Short Film and Best Production at the Festival de Cine de Castilla la Mancha FECICAM. The film wa sold to Movistar Plus, Telemadrid and Televisión Castilla la Mancha.
