Ana Martínez Álvarez
An independent filmmaker, televisión producer, screenwriter, teacher in her specialised área, therapist and actor-in-training. From a young age she was attracted to photography, film and television. A graduate of Information Sciences from the UCM and trained in the direction of actors, dance and music she has progressively moved closer to acting, a profession in which she considers herself an apprentice.
With over 30 years experience in TV productions of different genres, her first attempt as an independent film director an experimental fiction short called ‘Pantalones’in 2000) won her a Goya award and other national and international distinctions.
As a TV autor she is specialised in cultural and educational formats in fields such as opera, music (Jazz, classical, pop), in fiction, children’s programs, feature films and documentary series as well as various public service programs.
She was selected twice as an assesor to the Instituto de la Cinematografía ICAA (Spanish Ministry for Culture) for their annual concessions of subsidies for filmmaking (2011/2012).
She is co-author of essays HILANDO FINO (Ed. Icaria) and DIVULGAR LAS MATEMÁTICAS (Ed. Nivola).
She maintains an indpendent creative life which has resulted not just in short films but also in new documentary and fiction feature film projects. Currently she is integrating her training as a therapist with cinema experience in a new documentary feature film. .
She is a TV and film academic, member of CIMA women filmmakers, honorary member of the Plataforma de Nuevos Realizadores and of ASECIC, the association of film, video and scientific photography professionals.
